THE STALIN PROJECT

In 2005, the National Endowment for Humanities awarded a grant to create a textbook and a website about Stalinism for high school teachers and college professors. The Stalin Project provides a multi-media look at this time period with the hope that students will be better able to understand the vital lessons from this chapter of history.

The WEBSITE includes:

  • An overview of the Stalinist period
  • An extensive database of images and other primary source documents
  • Interviews of purge survivors
  • A PDF version of the textbook (see below)
  • A teacher page with teaching resources
  • In-depth lesson plans developed by leading academics in the field

    The TEXTBOOK includes:
  • Original texts from over 20 scholars in the field, including 2 Pulitzer Prize winners
  • Three levels of text which allows learners of all levels to access the materials
